Some kind of nymphalid larva?
Early instar, found on hollyhock.

probably
Vanessa annabella
, but at this small size, I'm not entirely sure how to tell that species from
Vanessa cardui
, both of which like Hollyhocks, and both of which have variable caterpillars. Older caterpillars aren't too difficult to separate, but are still similar.

Both
Painted Lady (Vanessa cardui) and West Coast Lady (Vanessa annabella) larva are found on my Hollyhocks here in NM. Larva are too variable for me to separate without the adult.
