weevil - Proctorus decipiens

weevil - Proctorus decipiens
Topsham, Orange County, Vermont, USA
May 26, 2009
Size: 2.8mm

from Charles O'Brien:
"Although the critical diagnostic character is not visible, I would consider this to be decipiens based on size and vestiture after comparison with specimens in my collection."

Moved from Proctorus.

Proctorus decipiens or armatus
Robert Anderson det.
His comment: "both are very close and differ in sternal armature. Boris Korotyaev and I are agreed on these just being derived Dorytomus. In fact a Russian species (name escapes me) has the same sternal armature as the two North American species."

Moved from Snout and Bark Beetles.
