Anyone know what this is? It has an impressive set of palps that look almost like another set of legs.

Tongue
These bees have an articulated tongue that is pretty impressive. I have some photos here in which you can see the movement of the tongue. I also have a video.
I plan to submit some other images soon.

Halictid bee.
This is actually a sweat bee in the tribe Augochlorini. Those palps are formed into a short "tongue," and that is what you have so elegantly captured in this image. Contrast this with "long-tongued" bees like bumble bees.

I had been through the Halictid images and saw the similarity, but I didn't see the long palps on any of the other images.
