Small Bee ID? - Endelomyia aethiops

Small Bee ID? - Endelomyia aethiops
Milwaukee, Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, USA
May 31, 2009
Size: 5 mm
I found several of these small bees on the leaves of one of my rose bushes, which do not have roses or buds. ID?

Moved tenatively per Dr. Smith's comment
Moved from Common Sawflies.

Tenthredinidae
Can't see wing venation well enough, but very similar in color and size to Endelomyia aethiops, the larvae of which feed on rose leaves.

Thanks
Thanks, Dave

Not a bee
This is a Sawfly (Tenthredinidae?).
No idea what species it is though, sorry. Are they yellow under the wings?

I have seen a lot of these myself and it would be intresting to see what species they are.
Heres one of mine I found

Thanks
Thanks for the sawfly ID. I'll keep watching the rosebush to see if I can get some better and more revealing shots.
