Explanation of Names
Generic epithet from Greek meaning "true Calantica" for the genus described by Zeller in 1847. Calantica Zeller was subsequently determined by Meyrick (1914) to be preoccupied by Calantica Gray (1825) (Crustacea) and he proposed Niphonympha as a replacement name. Niphonympha currently resides in Yponomeutidae and is filled with European and Asian species. (2)
Remarks
Formerly in Plutellidae. Transferred to Saridoscelinae which is in Yponomeutidae by Sohn et al. 2013 (3)
