Stonefly - Eccoptura xanthenes

Stonefly - Eccoptura xanthenes
Moccasin Lake, Winston, Douglas County, Georgia, USA
May 31, 2009
Size: 17mm measured
Need help with ID. Attracted to UV light. We've had a large number of stonflies here lately, but this one by far is much larger. The 17mm measurement refers to body length. Overall length (including wings) measured 24.5mm.

from Lloyd: "I’m now quite certain that this is E. xanthenes"
Moved from Common Stoneflies.

Perlidae
I'm not surprised that Kerry was reminded of Acroneuria, and I think this is a member of the subfamily Acroneuriinae. I can only offer a best guess about the species, but this is a rather distinctive specimen. I believe it is Eccoptura xanthenes, the "Yellow Stone."

Reminds me
of Acroneuria. Might be a place to start.
