Hummingbird Clearwing Moth, Hemaris diffinis or Hemaris thysbe - Hemaris diffinis

Hummingbird Clearwing Moth, Hemaris diffinis or Hemaris thysbe - Hemaris diffinis
Stewartsville, Warren County, New Jersey, USA
August 14, 2005
Size: 1.5 inch long
This is a hummingbird clearwing feeding on Verbena canadensis. I can't tell from the other photos on the site whether it is Hemaris diffinis or Hemaris thysbe.

I submitted images for another hummingbird moth in July; the markings on the abdomen were all black rather than black and yellow, but the July image may be of a clearwing too.
