Another excellent photo contribution to BugGuide
of a Mexican carabid species barely extending into USA. This one needs to be added to Mike Quinn's website "Beetles of the Lower Rio Grande Valley". Photos of such "rare" species are not readily available in print or previously on the internet.

I have a series of this species from Tamaulipas, Mexico. Is this rare in just the US, or is it rare in general?

Calosomas are known for their outbreaks
This sp. is rare in Texas except on this occasion when there were hundreds. This sp. is widespread in Mexico and probably undergoes similar population dynamics there as seen in Texas.

Thanks
