please keep taking and posting pictures, but wherever you have any doubts about specimen identity, do not place pix beyond the level you feel 100% comfortable with -- or just under 'ID Request'

not a tachinid, not even a calyptrate

I am not good at field identification at all. Just a guess on my part. I should have just posted it in flies.. I'll move it.

I'm sorry.
I'm not sure I was being frivolous by asking a question, but I will be more careful about how I ask for help identifying in the future. I appreciate Bugguide for the great resource it is and wouldn't want to create problems for others.
