Chrysobothris - Chrysobothris edwardsii

Chrysobothris - Chrysobothris edwardsii
Scottsdale, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
May 26, 2009
Size: ~11 mm
Help, please, with a specific species for this wood borer. First please look at larva photo. I shot this on April 9th, 2009 as I was taking down an obviously dead Ocotillo. Each stalk was filled with them! I told a friend at the Desert Botanical Garden about it and she asked for a section of a stalk. She moistened it, sealed it in a large plastic jar and on May 26, this guy came out. He has a bumpy pattern on his back. We were most curious about the iridescent spot at his mouth parts. As always, your help with ID is greatly appreciated!
