The lynx made no attempt to attack the beetle, which calmly turned to face the spider.

It didn't look good for the beetle judging by the picture...

 
No, it certainly didn't.
Wonder if the spider took a pass because of the armor. I wouldn't think it unusual for a lynx to dine on a beetle.
