I'm wondering how you got it to pose so nicely on the graph paper?

 
Not an energetic fly
It was rather slow-moving. I keep hoping to find another one but they don't seem to be too common. I know it was late in the day when I photographed this one so it may have also been cool. Lower temperatures help to slow these insects down.

 
Aha...I see.
I call those ones that stand still for you "cooperative" :-) They're the best, as far as minimizing a photographer's frustrations. Low temps definitely do help in that regard. Hope you get to see more.
