I am sure this is a female. I think it is a Yellow-sided Skimmer but I also have Needham's Skimmers and Golden-winged Skimmers in my area. I have a very difficult time distinguishing them in my guide book. I have never gotten a shot of a Golden-Winged or Needham's and I still do not think I have but I just don't know, lol.

Not an expert but...
It is my opinion that this is a Golden-winged Skimmer (Libellula auripennis).
