Match for two spp., both occur in AZ...
Cryptocephalus pinicolus Schaeffer / link - CA to NM to CO to UT
Cryptocephalus pubicollis Linell / link - AZ (only)

C. pinicolus appears to be a bit more elongated and thus a better match, perhaps... Mike
.

C. pubicolus
White (1968) mentions the pronotum having white silvery pubescence. He doesn't mention a pubescent pronotum for C. pinicolus ... [cite:212163]

Am rethinking this det......
Just saw your other similar bug with *really* pubescent pronotum. Flash prob. accentuated pub. on lat. shot of this ind....

That thought occurred to me, too
the pronotum of this one is definitely not shiny and has some pubecens, but the other one is the fuzzy one

Ed's spmns sans pubescence...
I note that Ed's specimen of C. pubicollis lacks pubescence as well, so this det is *very* tentative, (bordering on a coin flip?) Mike

Thank you Mike
If you'd like to include these into your web site (I didn't see them there?)- I'd be happy...oh - just saw the links

the oak
liVe oak? [here and elsewhere]

Oh - and I've used it for the bunch
