Bee with Green Eye - Melissodes - Male
Ontario, Canada
August 13, 2005
Size: Approximately 1/2 inch

Moved
Moved from Long-horned bees.

Male Eucerini bee.
Nice image, Naomi! This is a male bee, family Apidae, tribe Eucerini (can tell by extra long antennae it is a male), probably in the genus Melissodes. They are great pollinators of wildflowers.

Bee with Green Eye
Thanks for your help. I am new to photographing insects and I find them very confusing. I have posted another bee in the same flower perhaps you could help with that. I am looking forward to your book.
