Aquatic Isopod - Ligia occidentalis

Aquatic Isopod - Ligia occidentalis
Bolsa Chica Wildlife Preserve, Orange County, California, USA
June 13, 2009
Size: ~8mm
Finally, an Isopod that isn't Armadillum vulgare! :-) This was found in the mud among the rocks along the edge of the tidal inlet. There were more than one, but this was the only one I could really photograph. Perhaps Sea Slater (Rock Louse) Ligia occidentalis.
