Dolichovespula norvegicoides - male
This time a dorsal view of this boreal species - maybe the same individual, as the flowers seem to be the same? Here, the decisive criteria are not so easy to see, but a useful tip to separate Dolichovespula from Vespula is the much shorter first abdominal segment in the former genus: compare with your own pictures of Vespula vidua from last year.

Thanks
for the ID and a good explanation of how to determine the difference between the species. It's probably the same individual, but I wasn't sure, so I didn't link them.
