Tiny wasp with brood - Trissolcus - Female
Lexington, Fayette County, Kentucky, USA
June 12, 2009
Size: 1.5 mm
Tiny wasp from suspected Family Scelionidae with Stink bug eggs that she had been watching over for at least two days. This late evening was spent mostly drumming on individual eggs with her antenna. I am guessing that the different color eggs were indicative of different degrees of maturity (both Stink bugs and her own offspring). Unfortunately this entire clutch was decimated by the morning with the top half of each egg having been ripped (bitten?) off.

Trissolcus sp. --det. N.F. Johnson
Moved from Telenominae.

Moved from Scelionidae.

Yes...
This is a female wasp in the subfamily Telenominae. Nice work.

Interesting
Usually when I see parasitized egg clusters, it appears that every single egg has been parasitized. The open egg in the upper right successfully hatched a stink bug, and the green one under the wasp's face is viable as well. I believe all the others are parasitized, evidently at different degrees of maturity as you suggest.

dramatic scene, nice job!
