This spider seems to have a fierce "face" on its upside-down abdomen! - Argiope argentata
San Diego City, Rancho Penasquitos neighborhood., San Diego County, California, USA
June 14, 2009
Size: Body about 1/4" long
Does anyone know its ID and unusual habits? When its web was disturbed it moved its abdomen to be more verticle, making the "face" more visible.
