unknown bugs in viv
Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona, USA
May 15, 2009
Size: very small. hard to see
These are all over my vivarium. They look like mites but I don't know what type they are. A little help would be great.

Moved
Moved from Mites and Ticks.

predatory mites
These are mesostigmatid mites, possibly in the family Laelapidae, genus Geolaelaps. These are common predators in soil and decaying materials.

They do look like mites...
Chances are they're just scavenging, but there are mites that are parasitic. Sorry we couldn't be of more help.
