Hover fly -
Eupeodes
Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 15, 2009
Size: 6 mm
Such a peaceful little fly. It did not seem particularly attracted to anything, but was hanging around my deck all day. Kept using my wasp cage as a perch, which sent them into a frenzy

Looks like Eupeodes, but I'm not completely sure.
The fly has the black margin on the abdomen ala Eupeodes, but the yellow markings are a bit different. Tribe Syrphini might be a good place to park this one, pending expert commentary.

On second look, it's Eupeodes.
