I have been seeing these critters for years in the LRGV, but never able to get a decent photo, much less identify them. Then, was at the Olmito fish hatchery (well known to Dragonfly Days attendees and other LRGV odonate enthusiasts, also on the Texas Coastal Birding Trail map), borrowing some critters to use in entertaining people at the grand opening of Resaca de la Palma State Park the following day. The weather was cool and breezy, so things that might otherwise fly away were less inclined to do so. When my dip net accidentally swooped up one of these critters, it stuck around long enough for me to finally get some adequate pics!
