Panther Creak Campground, stevenson County, Washington, USA

Size: 5inches
Found this guy while I was taking a walk during a camping trip. Seems pretty common to me, but couldn't find a picture of it on the site here.

Moved
Moved from Xystodesmidae.

Moved
Moved from Millipedes. I take the location to be near the town of Stevenson, Washington, about 40 miles east of Portland.

If this is from Stevens Co. in NE WA, not Stevenson Co. according to my maps, then it can't be Harpaphe because this is much too far inland. It must therefore be a species of Chonaphe, perhaps C. schizoterminalis Shelley, 1994, which is in this area of the state. The body is also a bit too wide proportionate to the length to be Harpaphe. location
I believe he meant it was near the town of Stevenson, in Skamania county in southwest WA (or, as John. F. Carr pointed out, about 40 mi east of Portland, OR). Cross referencing "Stevenson", "WA", and "Panther Creek campground" makes this the most likely spot.

Millipede.
Probably in the genus Harpaphe. Careful when handling these, as their defensive chemical secretion is a cyanide compound.
