Bumble Bee - Bombus californicus - female

Bumble Bee - Bombus californicus - Female
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
June 13, 2009
Size: approx 25mm
Found nectaring at Garden Sage, Salvia officinalis.

I'm thinking perhaps Bombus fervidus. Went to the Bumble Bees of the World web page and did a search based on color patterns (http://www.nhm.ac.uk/research-curation/research/projects/bombus/index.html) and came up with B. fervidus.

Moved
Moved from Bumble Bees.

The black head and narrow yellow stripe in the back
...lead me to guess that this is Bombus californicus which may or may not be a subspecies of B. fervidus.

I will put it under californicus for now
I do have one ID'd as B. californicus from a few years ago.
