caterpillar on gooseberry - Macaria evagaria

caterpillar on gooseberry - Macaria evagaria
Bloomington, Monroe County, Indiana, USA
April 18, 2009

Moved from Mousy Angle Moth.

Thanks for all your help tracking this down!

Moved from Macaria.

Moved from Geometrid Moths.

Looks to be Mousy Itame
Itame argillacearia, but that lists blueberry and cranberry as hosts. We'll have to look for a cousin that feeds on gooseberry. We also think the genus Itame is gone and this should now be called Macaria.
M. ribearia feeds on Gooseberry, but has fewer, larger spots.

Awsome! Thanks for your research!

if it was on gooseberry, then it should be evagaria according to Ferguson's MONA treatment; also well out of range for argillacearia
