Copulating clearwing moths - Alcathoe caudata - Male Female
Chattahoochee River Park (Johnson Ferry North), Cobb, GA County, Georgia, USA

One of the more interesting finds I made while searching along the woods last night.

Him from Her
The larger (left) of the pair is the female. Notice the black tufts on her hindmost legs. His are brownish with red. These are distinctive. His tubular anal process is curved upward and over his back. Relative to him, her abdomen in huge, swollen with eggs. Coloration is not always so clear cut, she is much the darker of the two.
