BG2256 C2865 - Galerita lecontei
Gloster, Gloster Arboretum, Amite County, Mississippi, USA
July 1, 2006
Size: body length 18.9 mm.
Head shape suggests Galerita bicolor rather than G. janus. I don’t have the information required to rule out G. lecontei, which also probably occurs in LA.
Proper placement would be appreciated.
Gayle

Note on Galerita.
If you feel that head behind eyes is relatively long and gradually tapering (better visualized with specimen under scope), then you have G. bicolor. Both G. janus and G. lecontei have relatively short and rounded "temples" behind eyes; very short in G. lecontei. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Peter
The shape of the head appears to meet the requirements for G. bicolor.
