Little Black bugs in my house, concerned for my newborn
Hi I am having trouble trying to identify these small black bugs that are in our rental home. I am sorry I don't have a picture to post of these bugs. I can't get my digital camera to be able to focus in close enough to these bugs to get a clear image.
These bugs are small, about 1 mm is the biggest I have seen so far. Bodies look to be black and cigar shaped. Their bodies are soft, because they seem to smush pretty easily. They do seem to have what I would describe as antenna. No wings, but they might be able to jump, or hop when startled at times. Its hard to tell because they are so small just getting close enough to really look at them and breathing on them can blow them away. They seem to like areas around windows, and around bathroom sinks. I dismissed them at first for being gnats, but they don't fly and don't look like they everyday gnat that gets in sinks. I am not a sqeamish person, I like insects and don't like to kill things for no reason, but I am becoming concerned. We just had a baby. I didn't realize just how many of these bugs were in the house until I went though some baby clothes I had sitting on a window seat. There were many of these bugs in my babies clothes. I am now also finding them on my kitchen table and in other parts of my house. I'd like to know what they are, and if they are harmful. If anyone could help me or give me a good idea of what and where to start looking I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
