Beetle - Neandra brunnea

Beetle - Neandra brunnea
DuPage County, Illinois, USA
August 20, 2005
Size: 15mm
Is this a stag beetle? Note threadlike antennae.

Moved from Neandra.

The most recent treatment of this species is that it is now Neandra brunnea.

This is actually a longhorn beetle, albeit an oddball for the family. The genus is Parandra, species is brunnea or brunneum, I always get it confused with the Orthosoma:-)

Ahh, thank you Eric. Those antennae threw me! Your help (and are absolutely invaluable to me and lord knows how many others. I hope we never have to go back to the bad old days.
