Skipper caterpillar/pupa

Skipper caterpillar/pupa
Shirley, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
June 20, 2009
This caterpillar was just going into the pupal stage when I collected it yesterday. Today it's all black, and looks dead, but I'm hoping that's just part of the normal change to make it look like a bird dropping.

Moved from Skippers.

Moved
Moved from Butterflies and Moths. We've seen striped heads like this on skippers.

We'll move it over there and see if you get any nibbles.
