Bellinger P.F., Christiansen K.A., Janssens F. (1996‒2023) Checklist of the Collembola of the World
A currently under-construction web site (as of 2/2008) with numerous checklists, keys and other information on the Collembola of the world.

Morphbank
There is a push for all images in scientific publications to be deposited in a digital format and available to the public. Most of the contributions are from entomologists, but the scope of morphbank is to include all images of any living (or once living) organism. I am not directly associated with this project, but I think it has some really good aims.

North Carolina State University General Entomology (ENT 425)
Excellent site with systematics, descriptions, images. Looks to be a fairly complete on-line entomology class. Try the Course Tutorial for an introduction to insect biology and Compendium of Hexapod Classes and Orders for systematics. Spot ID of Orders page has photos of representatives of major orders--well done. The design of the site is simple and uncluttered--excellent work.

All it needs is links to BugGuide on appropriate pages!

Historical literature
"Core Historical Literature of Agriculture" from Cornell University. Has full text of Annals of the Entomological Society of America from 1908-1950, and Transactions of the American Entomological Society from 1867-1950.

www.IowaPix.com - Digital Photography by Keith Turrill - Insect Gallery
