Acmaeodera connexa

Acmaeodera connexa
Pollock Pines, El Dorado County, California, USA
May 29, 2009
Size: 10mm
The flash obscures the elytra a bit, but I think this is Acmaeodera hepburnii

Acmaeodera connexa LeConte,18
Acmaeodera connexa LeConte,1859. The subterminal maculations are more complete and the anterior elytral maculation are not as widely dispersed as they should be for A. hepburnii. The two can easily be confused. I also associate A. connexa more with the Yellow Pine Forest and A. hepburnii with the Oak Woodland/Chaparral.

Dennis, Ive collected both species in the same places in Chaparral and Yellow Pine Habitats in large numbers. And yes, I am replying almost 11 years later lol..
