Wasp mantispid fly - Climaciella brunnea

Wasp mantispid fly - Climaciella brunnea
Heritage Valley, Allamakee County, Iowa, USA
June 20, 2009
Size: 25 mm
Not the best pictures, but I was so excited to have found this guy that I wanted to post them now. Look at that neck! Also does not appear anyone has posted for Iowa. We found a half dozen of these, all flying around the blooms of wild parsnip, presumably hunting whatever was coming to those blooms. Climaciella brunnea, I presume.
