I don't see the dark suture margin that would be expected for C. novemnotata. But you're certainly in the right genus.

Dorsal shot. You're right: no dark suture margin whatsoever. Looks like it has a couple light patches that I didn't notice before...

bandless tri-band
Using Gordon, this one certainly keys to
C. trifasciata subversa
, the west coast bandless version of the tri-banded ladybird. The solid bar between the eyes, with black forehead makes this a female.
LeConte's type
, also a female, can be seen at the MCZ.
