I found this insect drowning in some water... I think it is Arhyssus? Which species live in nothern California?

Thanks for the reply! That does appear to be a very close match... The main difference I can see (besides the color) is that the description of Liorhyssus hyalinus on here says that the wings protrude far beyond the abdomen, which I don't see in my insect. It could just be the perspective of the shot though...

 
forget the color...
the thin smooth polished collar along the anterior pronotal margin is what gives it away
