Tiny green leafhopper - Empoasca genus? - Balclutha impicta

Tiny green leafhopper - Empoasca genus? - Balclutha impicta
Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, USA
June 23, 2009
Size: 2 mm long
This lively leafhopper was continually taking large leaps, and I felt very lucky to get any kind of decent photo. It was dwarfed by a much more cooperative Osbornellus genus leafhopper nearby.

Moved

Balclutha impicta
The very short head, narrower than the thorax, and the long wings are distinctive. This is the unmarked form.

Thank you
That was a toughie.

No kidding!
I think I was just trying to shoot his brother over here, and it is very difficult! Very tiny. I haven't downloaded my pix yet so I don't know if I was as successful as you. Subscribing to yours to find out the answer, when you get one. =)

Good luck to both of us!
I pored through the leafhopper pages for an hour, but couldn't find one with the same shape and size. Lots of little green jobs!
