Springtail - Bourletiella juanitae

Springtail - Bourletiella juanitae
Kenner, Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, USA
June 25, 2009
Size: <1mm
I know these images are very good... I am pretty sure this is a Springtail but I don't see any like it one BugGuide yet. I hope that Frans Janssens will be able to help out here.

I am sure than the size was less than 1 mm and closer to .5mm because I actually measured the blade of grass after getting the pictures.

Bourletiella juanitae
Although the general habitus matches with family Katiannidae, the pattern matches with a dark colour form of a female Bourletiella juanitae.

It is a remarkable specimen.

cute little feller
Yours has a somewhat clown-like appearance.
I've never photo'd a springtail, but I haven't been looking too much either because of how tiny. I'd have to stack all the extension tubes on, and I'm too lazy. :)
