Flesh Fly - Sarcophaga

Flesh Fly - Sarcophaga
Rolling Hills Estates, Los Angeles County, California, USA
June 25, 2009
Is this a species of Sarcophaga? It's a spectacularly colored animal, at least to folks who can get past the idea it's an, ugh, fly.

i agree
I'm pretty sure that the 3 racing stripes on top of the thorax make it a flesh fly. There are some colorful flies out there for sure.

Good call
Note also red tail-light. With its brilliant finish, this one should be in a car show.
