Erythroneura

Size: approx 3-4mm
Here are some Erythroneura I photographed in my back yard. Most are Erythroneura comes and the last is E. vulnerata I believe but if anybody can confirm this that would be great. They were all found on wild grape. Click on the photo to see a larger version.

Erythroneura spp.
The upper 6 are color varieties of E. comes, the grapevine leafhopper.

The next 3 are: E. ziczac (zigzag stripe), E. vitis (dark patch) and E. vulnerata (at bottom).

Great look
Great look at the variation that is possible in a plant hopper species. How did you do this? Are these live or specimens? Is this a montage or a single photo? Nice work!

This is....
Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the kind words. This is a montage of different photographs. I made them all the same size and oriented them in a similar way so it looked a bit neater. These were alive. I caught a bunch and simply put them onto a large white piece of board, many flew away but some stayed just long enough for a photo. There were a couple of very interesting looking individuals that I missed, I'll try to get some more when I get a chance. I really enjoy these tiny little hoppers.
