4891 - Dicymolomia opuntialis
... based on comparison with specimen shown in the new Moths of Western North America (Plate 22.11) in which the two rows of black spots on the hindwings are fused into elongate shapes. Southern California and the Channel Islands, has been reared on Opuntia.
I trimmed, brightened and sharpened the photo and oriented it to the custom at MPG (moths face upward or to the right).
Nice addition of a species to the collection!

Looks to be something in the genus Tebenna
in the guide
here
, but nothing exactly like yours. We don't see a match on MPG either, but maybe Bob Patterson will know anyway. Either that or we are completely off!!

I have more photos from other
I have more photos from other angles if it helps. Also be careful with colors. I took photos of this one with and without flash, and some widely varying camera settings; and that made a big difference. I think these are the most true to life, but I wouldn't swear to that. Some of the photos I have almost look like a completely different moth (aside from the shape).

Yes, please do add several more images
to help with the ID. If you can crop some of them so that the images are square, that would help Bob if he decides he would like to contact you about posting some of the images at Moth Photographers Group.

Added a couple more images
I've added the most distinct poses I have. If MPG needs square ones, I'll make those separately.
