"6-legged" M. formosa
Today I prodded a small jumping spider to jump into a coffee can and scrutized it pretty good with a magnifying glass. For the life of me I could only count six legs, no front pair. My spider book led me to Marpissa genus and from the photos here it appears to be Marpissa formosa (this particular image above is very close to what I saw). Is it possible this was a still-maturing spider that hadn't grown the front legs yet?

On my porch steps, north-central Arkansas, late July.

Not an ID -
but this male jumper resembles some images of Marpissa formosa I've seen on the web.

Compare, for example, to images of male at TOL
here?

Had to do some reading on this one
but based on Barnes' descriptions formosa seems the closest match.
