Size: ~1 cm
Lone individual clinging to leaf of basswood (Tilia americana) tree.

Elaterid...
Looks like a click beetle to me, and my best guess for species would be Ampedus sanguinipennis:



Only a guess though, so please wait for a Coleoptera specialist to confirm.
