Moved from Galls. I assume you mean bur oak (Q. macrocarpa)... there doesn't seem to be a gall like this on Q. bicolor (swamp white oak), although the trees must be pretty closely related so it may be an undocumented host.

I stand corrected, this is bur oak not swamp white oak, so will edit my entry accordingly (they do have similar-looking leaves and grow in the same bottomland forest communities here). Thanks!
