Eurypogon harrisii (Westwood 1862)
patronym for Thaddeus William Harris (1795–1856) an American entomologist and botanist.

large punctation is diagnostic for E. niger. E. harrisii seems to be less common than E. niger. (3)
Characters used by Brown (1944) to differentiate E. harrisii and E. niger were essentially reversed by Downie and Arnett (1996)(4)(3)
