Microtomus purcis

Microtomus purcis
Medina County, Texas, USA
June 26, 2009
Size: body length: 25mm
Attracted to mv/black light along with the occassional Triatoma sanguisuga. This one is slightly similar to Triatoma pallidipennis but not?

Mocrotomus
I agree with Eric's ID - very cool bug. I used to find them relatively frequently under loose bark of dry, dead hardwoods when I lived in Texas. Of course also a good spot for centipedes, wasps, etc...

No, but a little friendlier:-)
Wow, great shot of one of my very favorite reduviids: Microtomus purcis. Hunts other critters under bark on logs and dead trees, comes to lights at night.

Thanks Eric!
