Dragonfly 56 - Libellula auripennis

Dragonfly 56 - Libellula auripennis
Auburn, Lee County, Alabama, USA
June 26, 2009
I believe this is a Golden-winged Skimmer (L. auripennis). On enlargement of the image, it appears the that there is no color change in the costa at the node. The color is the same for both the outer and inner half.
Would appreciate any comments on this.

I agree with your ID. For more tips on separating L. auripennis from L. needhami, check the first 4 photos in this album on our website. For maximum resolution, click on "get original uploaded photo" at lower left on initial image. On your enlargement you may be able to count the paranal cells in the wing.
