Size: 3-5 mm
Eight days later, I found this adult feeding on a lilac bush, about 25 yards from where the instar fell.

Enchenopa brevis
A female; this species is known only from leatherwood (Dirca). Its nymph is quite different from the one you found nearby.
This is the first record from MI.
