I believe this Robber Fly with grasshopper prey is Efferia sp. Is it possible from this photo to narrow it down to species?

Great shot! I've never seen a robber fly with prey bigger than it is! And the grasshopper almost has this bummed out look to it.
I don't know which one it is, but wanted to make note of the shot.

 
I agree that this is an impressive sized meal...
...but this species seems to be capable of still greater feats:
