Fruit Fly? - Drosophila immigrans

Fruit Fly? - Drosophila immigrans
Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
July 4, 2009
It was very tiny and perched on my doorframe at night, likely attracted to my patio light.

Moved
Moved from Drosophila.

Great
Thank you!

Yes - genus Drosophila
Drosophilids are rather called "Pomace Flies" to distinguish them from the Tephritidae. Quality of this pic is simply breathtaking. It could well illustrate, e.g., an identification key.

Thank you very much.
If it's useful for a key, please use it. I appreciate the compliment. =)
