Rotting tree dweller 25 (fly) - Clusiodes

Rotting tree dweller 25 (fly) - Clusiodes
Newton, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, USA
July 5, 2009
Size: 3 mm
Not much of a picture, but some of the other insects on this tree are rare (at least for the guide).

The dark stripes on the thorax are on the inside of long humps.

Moved
Moved from Clusiidae.

Moved
Moved from Flies.

I'm leaning
towards Clusiidae but I'm not totally sure.

You're right
Clusiodes sp. If there's only two dorsocentrals then it's part of the C. melanostomus complex.

Dorsocentrals
I count one small, one medium, one large dorsocentral (front to back).
